MC CLELLAND ENGINEERS PVT. LTD.

Mc Clelland Engineers Pvt Ltd is India's leading Hazardous Waste Incinerator Manufacturer. We have been in the incineration industry since 1985 and supplied over 300 plants all over the world. With exports to USA, UAE, Africa etc. and esteemed Indian clientele such as TATA, Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma etc. Mc Clelland has maintained its dominant pole position in the market. The incineration system is suitable for solid, liquid, sludge & gaseous waste incineration & energy generation, evaporators, hazardous waste, precious metal recovery, soil decontamination, oxidation & reduction, process of gas glaring, hazardous & non-hazardous VOC destruction etc.

Incineration system in brief

Incineration is a heat treatment process which mainly involves precious metal recovery and hazardous waste treatment of the gaseous, liquid and solid effluent in order to minimize their environmental effects. The process involves combustion of organic substances contained in waste materials in refractory lined furnaces which converts the waste into ash, flue gas and heat. Flue gases are treated for eradication of pollutants before releasing to atmosphere. The waste heat is utilized to generate revenue for the client. Mc Clelland incinerators typically have ROI (return on investment) of 1 year.

In incinerator, the fuel source is the supplied waste plus additional fuel added through burners to maintain the temperature. The incinerator is designed to be sufficiently hot to carry out complete combustion, allowing reactions between most volatile components of the waste and the oxygen and nitrogen in air. The prevalent reactions are between carbon and oxygen, which produces carbon dioxide, and between hydrogen and oxygen, producing water vapor. Hydrogen also reacts with organically-bound chlorine to produce hydrogen chloride. In addition to these, other reactions produce sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and metal oxides.

For optimal design and operation of furnace, Mc Clelland has given special attention to incineration temperature, turbulence of the gas mixture being combusted, and gas-residence time at the incineration temperature. To achieve efficient combustion, every part of the gas stream reaches an adequately high temperature for a sufficient period of time, and there is adequate mixture of fuel and oxygen. The furnace is designed to ensure there is a good mixing of the combustion air and the gases and vapors coming from the burning waste. The incombustible portion of the waste, bottom ash is left as residue. This need to be removed from system as it is incombustible. Mc Clelland Engineers incorporate a number of methods for ensuring proper combustion and reducing emissions. A steady waste feed supply is preferred with no major fluctuations in supply rate, air for combustion, or other incineration conditions. The more often there are any interruptions (for maintenance or because of inadequate or varying waste stream volume), the more uneven the combustion and the greater the potential for increased emissions.

The temperature achieved is the result of heat released by the oxidation process, and has to be maintained high enough to ensure that combustion goes to completion, but not so high as to damage equipment or generate excessive nitrogen oxides. Temperatures are controlled by McClelland by controlling amount of excess air and the amount of waste material charged to the furnace. Turbulence is needed to ensure adequate contact between the combustible gases and supplied oxygen.

To increase temperature, extend residence time, and increase turbulence in waste incinerators in order to improve combustion efficiency and provide other benefits like improved ash quality, Mc Clelland has incorporated number of unique design features and operating techniques.
